HOW TO USE THIS SITE:
Finding Articles:The Waldorf in the Home site contains nearly 200 articles relating to parenting and Waldorf homeschooling. Simply type your topic into the Search box located a ways down on the right, and see what we have! If you're homeschooling, be sure to see our page on Waldorf Homeschooling Resources using the main menu tabs, above.
Finding CDs and DVDs: In addition to articles, we also offer nearly 175 recordings of workshops and keynote addresses (CDs and DVDs) by Waldorf experts who presented at "Waldorf in the Home" conferences over the years. Enter the Online Store using the menu at the top, and then search by category (such as "Children and Nature," "Waldorf Home Schooling," "Sensory Integration," "Authority and Discipline"). You can also enter a topic or presenter name in the search engine on the store site.
FOR PARENTS OF YOUNG CHILDREN: If you have or care for young children, go to the main tabs, FIRST TEACHER and LIFEWAYS. You Are Your Child's First Teacher is the place to start in understaning child development from birth through age six and bringing Waldorf/Steiner indications into your home. And the LIFEWAYS tab will bring you to a description of the services and links provided by LifeWays North America and Joyful Toddlers--both invaluable resources for anyone who cares for or about young children!
HOMESCHOOLING:We offer unique resources on how to get started--just click on the HOMESCHOOLING tab above. We also offer articles and recordings on curriculum topics, which can be found as described above. Our DVDs on curriculum topics such as Form Drawing, Math by Hand, Teaching Reading and Writing the Waldorf Way, Coloring with Block Crayons, Watercolor Painting in Grades 1-2 and many more are unique in showing you how to do the things that are so hard to figure out when you only read about them!
Discovering the insights of Rudolf Steiner and Waldorf education transformed my family life, starting when my children were 1-10 years old (they're 31-41 now!). Since that time I've written and updated You Are Your Child's First Teacher several times, helping tens of thousands of families. I've also worked closely with the development of the LifeWays approach for nurturing families and inspiring childcare, both as a founding board member and directing Rainbow Bridge LifeWays program for 1-5 year olds in Boulder, CO.
